Hi, my name is Mitch Simonson, founder of Simonson Appraisals, a commercial real estate appraisal and consulting firm I founded on January 1st, 2019. Today I want to share a few thoughts on a topic I’m extremely passionate about, and one I’m getting more requests on. It’s from individuals who are in a position they’ve been in their profession for a number of years, and most often they’re working as an employee and are looking to make a big decision. They have the itch to do something more, to create more freedom for their lives, to make the pivot to their next step, and so they reach out, seeing that I recently started my own company. I call it the entrepreneurial itch!
The reason I get so passionate about it is when I can hear the apprehension, the lack of full confidence to take that next move, I remember like yesterday being there. You know, it was at least eight years ago where I remember having almost sleepless nights as I was filled with excitement on one hand and extremely fearful on the other. Coming from a blue-collar family and the thought of leaving a steady paycheck and that sense of security knowing I was getting a paycheck was very much at the front of my mind. Especially providing for my wife and children. So when I hear those voices and doubts in people’s heads, I try to get them to share, or think about WHY they want to do it. One of my mentors, Jim Rohn, talks about when the WHY gets big enough, the how gets easy. If you’ve got big enough reasons as to why you want to make the next strategic career move, back that up with a solid plan and take MASSIVE ACTION. It creates the vehicle to create more freedom in your life and strive towards the goal of deeper fulfillment and better alignment with the vision of what SUCCESS means to you!
